OK, you have HSV 1, which is ORAL HERPES...HSV2 is the Genital.
Have you ever kissed anyone? Drank after anyone? You can get it from those ways too....If you have never had oral sex then you shouldn't have HSV below the waist. This could be because of the Erthema Multiforma as you said it causes spots all over your body.
If you have HSV1 and have never had oral sex you most likely only have it on the mouth. A lot of people have HSV1 on the mouth, it's what causes cold sores. It's typically passed on during child hood by innocently kissing or being kissed by some one that has cold sores.
