Type 1 herpes is not fatal usually. There is valtrex for it. And yes its very common to have type 1 herpes. If u want to get tested u can.HSV1 is almost never fatal. It's only fatal in newborn babies and people with compromised immune systems.
Most people have oral HSV1. 50% to 80% of adults have it, and its usually caught in childhood from kissing relatives. Very very few people ever have it professionally treated. If you get frequent, painful cold sores, then you might want to get your doctor. There are no medications that will cure herpes, but there are some antiviral drugs that can reduce the frequency and severity of outbreaks.

Oral herpes on the mouth is quite common, it's what causes cold sores usually around the mouth. If your out breaks are mild then you don't really need medication for it, you can use over the counter creams to treat it. Also out breaks tend to get less sever over time. Don't kiss any one or give oral sex while you have a sore, they are very contagious until it completely heals and goes away.
