How often can you get herpes simplex or cold sores?

so many of those sores you need an expertCold sores (herpes simplex virus 1) is a very common disease. Yes! A disease. I hate to say this but after your first reaction, they will continue to show up for the rest of your life. But don't worry. For the average cold sore sufferer, a breakout may occur 1 to 2 times a year depending on physical health. Basically, stress, overexposure to the sun or wind (intense weather), eating habits or exposure to someone or something that has the virus can cause a breakout. They are very painful and very, VERY annoying but they don't last long if you take care of them right and keep a healthy lifestyle. Always keep the sore clean and always wash your hands after touching it (or avoid touching it altogether). Abreva is a good remedy only as it numbs the pain and shortens the duration. I've researched many home remedies that can help prevent and shorten the length of a cold sore such as eating potatoes, drinking green tea and setting the tea bag on the sore, all kinds of strange things but when you have a cold sore, you get desperate. Also, if the sores continue to breakout more than twice in a two month period (or shorter if you prefer), you can go to your doctor and have them check it out and they should give to a medication to relieve the sores for a long period of time. As a permanent, dormant virus in your body anything that may stress your body or your mind may wake the virus. So the best prevention is to stay healthy. Mind and Body.Cold sores herpes 1 are different than genital herpes 2. If you think you could have genital herpes 2 on your face, you can get it tested to find out to test for herpes 1 or 2. Herpes 1 for cold sores is easy to get. Someone who has one could have touched a door knob and then you do, or gym equipment, or your mom gets them and she kissed you as a child.

I used to get them a lot and did extensive research talking to people, medically etc. Anyway you are correct there are triggers that cause them to come:
Stress.
Chocolate (for some people, not me).
Coffee (huge trigger for me).
Sun (huge trigger for me, using SPF lip balm does not work).
Alcohol (huge trigger for me). Watch for mouthwash with alcohol and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it.
Citrus lemons, limes, oranges, citrus sodas 7 up, mellow yellow, just white and yellow sodas and juices made from citrus fruits etc. (big trigger for me).
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (its in toothpastes and mouthwashes). Big trigger.
Heat. To much heat in a room or in a car.
Nuts (huge trigger for me).
You should buy L-Lysine and take it daily and Zinc daily. Usually if you are going to get one your lips start to be super dry and you lick them a lot. That is a sign one is coming. Several times daily put Neosporin Plus Pain on them. Also, antiseptic. It tastes bad but there is something in there that stops them from coming. I use Band-Aid antiseptic.
Colds, or low immune system.

If you get one that Neosporin plus Pain will heal it fast. Apply several times a day and when you go to bed a big blob of it and sleep with it on there. It speeds it up.

Of course when you have one dont kiss anyone and it can be transferred sexually. It has to heal totally. Dont share cups, toothbrushes etc.

It took me years to learn this that I am telling you so I am happy to tell you as you are young.

So i avoid these things. If you get one, try to think what you may have ate lately so you can see what your triggers are but most of these most people trigger from.

Also if you get a cold, right away start applying Neosporin regularly prevenatively cuz I always seem to get them with colds.
