How long does the genital herpes virus live outside of the body?
How long does the genital herpes virus live outside of the body?
do you mean breakouts or the viral microbes themselves?
Im pretty sure as soon as they are exposed to air they die... hence why it is transferred only through skin to skin contact.Genital herpes doesn't live for more then seconds out side of the body, it also doesn't survive in fluids or foods very well. Because of this it's very unlikely to get herpes from objects. Herpes is more fragile then you think. In theory this virus will die very quickly once the temperature drops or the moisture around the virus dries up, but a scenario can be suggested where the temperature and moisture holds on long enough for the virus to survive outside the body for several minutes. But once in the body, they have been known to remain dormant for years in rare cases. Symptoms usually appear within a few days after exposure.
