There are no repercussions for not taking meds to treat an outbreak. The outbreak will heal on it's own just not as fast as it would if you took the antivirals. People can have HSV-1, HSV-2, both OR nothing at all. The only way to know your status is to be properly tested for it. What happens is your life will go on! No you do not have to take meds all the time but I do suggest that you use antivirals if you are in a relationship to halve the risk of transmission if you are with someone that doesn't have the virus. Many people get along fine without meds it just really depends on your health and immune system.

You can infect places like your eyes, nose, mouth, fingers and thigh area that surrounds your genitals. you have to be sure not to try to touch your sores and if you do be sure to wash your hands immediately before you touch your body or your partners.

You will die, we all will but it wont be from herpes! Herpes is not life threatening and you can live a happy life with your gift if you want too. Be positive, be safe, and read as much as you can to give you better ground and information on what you have.
