My friend got a herpes zoster, is it possible that she got the virus from me since I got herpes 3 months ago?
Herpes zooster is the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles, its lightly different then the type that cases cold sores or genital herpes. If you had chicken pox when you were younger then you could have it too. It's very common and usually passed on during child hood, once you have it you're not likely to get it again. If she has all ready had it and it's healed up then you're not likely to get it from her.
If it's cold sores then she has oral herpes, this is also very common to have. She could pass it to you by giving you a kiss on or around your mouth while she has a cold sore.Herpes Zoster is usually seen in older adults. When it is seen in a younger person it can indicate a compromised immune system. I have also heard that taking liquorice capsules can shorten the duration of herpes zoster. I has worked for me to stop a cold sore from forming. I take it at the first sign of tingling in my lip and it never seems to get past that stage when I take the liquorice.
