Does Shingles have anything to do with herpes since its also called herpes zoster virus?

I don't think so, i heard that shingles is form of chicken poxIt is a herpetic virus, but the base form is the same as the chicken pox, just in an adult form. This does not however mean you have herpesShingles really doesn't have anything to do with herpes. In fact, it is caused by the same virus that causes Chicken Pox. What happens is that the virus lays dormant in your system until there may be a reactivation. While it is true that most people don't get Chicken Pox twice, people may easily get Shingles for the same reason.
