Go and buy some lysine from walmart or any store that sells vitamins or supplements. It is an amino acid and is sometimes listed as L-lysine. You can take this supplement safely along with valtrex or acyclovir. Many people take 1000 mg a day as a preventative dose, and take up to 6000 mg a day when an outbreak is starting or in progress.

Arginine is sort of the opposite amino acid to lysine. Not really, but at least as far as herpes is concerned.
