Type 1 and type 2 are both viruses. The only difference is that type 1 prefers the mouth and type 2 prefers the genitals. If you have type 1 orally, you'll probably get more outbreaks than if it were type 2. It will also be more likely to spread if it's oral type 1, than oral type 2.
Also, more than 60% of the population has Type 1, while that percentage is much lower for type 2.
