google itI would assume it needs a few weeks to work, most antibiotics do. If you do get put onto a permanent medical scrip then the next time it won't be so bad. From what I know anyway. Your blood needs a certain level of any drug to take effect.It depends. I have type 1 (cold sores) for years and sometimes (with meds) they last a few days. Other times they last 2 weeks.
In my experience its almost as tho the virus has different strengths. Sometimes the meds really help - other times.... no matter how much meds I take and what I do - if there comkming...there is nothing I can do to stop it - you just have to ride it out.
Keep taking your meds and talk to you dr after that prescription and see about switching.
I find that Acylovir really doesnt help them as much as Valtrax.
