Genital herpes or yeast infection?

Genital herpes or yeast infection?

Sounds like a yeast infection. If she gave you Valtrex, it won't clear it; it just helps to reduce the duration and intensity of outbreaks.

HSV outbreaks become less frequent and less troublesome as you get older. The "crust" very closely resembles scabs, so I'm not sure what to tell you there.

The herpes virus cannot survive in your body; your immune system attacks and destroys it (unfortunately causing the blisters and itching in the process). The virus "hangs out" in your neural ganglia, bunches of nerve cells like little substations where your immune system cannot reach it due to the blood-brain barrier. Once in a while the virus gets brave and ventures out to the surface of your skin, where it gets beaten down by your immune system. It cannot travel far, so if you have a GH infection, it will never make the journey to become oral herpes.

The blood test cannot tell the difference between an oral infection and a genital infection, although the virus type is a strong suggestion of where the infection is located.

I had a weird rash once that the doctor visually identified as GH, so I know exactly how you feel. I spent the next week and a half doing what you're doing now, and it sucked. Hopefully you will get the same good news I did.To be completely honest, it does sound like you have GH.. but considering you had itchy like symptons b4 sex makes me think that you either already had a yeast infection or an STD..and when you previously had sex you contracted GH..signs of Herpes can appear as early as 2 days and considering you just had a itch and burn doesnt mean you already had herpes.. and using a condom during sex doesnt protect you from herpes. Herpes is a skin to skin infection. I tested postive for herpes a few weeks ago, due to recieving oral sex from someone with a cold sore..

GoodLuck with your results
