Can you get herpes on your hands?

You can have herpes whitlow.

I've had HSV2 for 25+ years and also get funny bumps under the skin on my hands. I've had Dr's look at it and they didn't know what it was but I'm wondering if I've got it, too...From everything that I've read, it is possible to transmit herpes to your hands- its called whitlow. I've had herpes for 7 years and recently started experiencing itching, burning stinging on my hands/fingers. I haven't had any blisters manifest so I'm wondering if it is because I'm taking Valtrex, (or if this nuisance is actually caused by something else). I'm very stressed and trying to get a doctor's appt as we speak so I can find out what it is. Has anyone else experienced this? Would valtrex actually mask this new infection?
