pretty much, valtrex is a time release formula of acyclovir, so you can ask for the generic acyclovir, but it really isn't that much cheaper than valtrex.i agree with the post above, and also you can take Lysine (its a supplement pill, without a prescripition) and also vitamin c supplements to help boost your immune systemDonkey wee
