You should try Valtrex because you dont have to take it as often acyclovir. Most medicines they tell you to double ur dosage for 3 days or so. Valtrex you take once a day everyday then twice a day for 3 days if you're having an outbreak. Im not really sure about acyclovir I know its the oldest topical medication out there for genital herpes.there should be no bad side effects from taking meds before you have an outbreak. you can even take it daily to prevent shedding and outbreaks. so no you are fine with what you are doing. Talk to you doctor about changing your script to a daily one. someone else was talking about how valtrex is better - it really is not, it is a once a day med as to the twice that you are doing. valtrex and famvir all break down in the body about the same way.Some people only take them when they are getting an outbreak but if you take them everyday your chances of an outbreak are less likely
