Is it possible to contract genital herpes from sharing a cigarette?
NO. Herpes isn't found in saliva. it's passed when you have direct skin contact with the area affected by herpes. Like kissing some one while they have a visible cold sore. Genital herpes is very rarely passed out side of having sex.
The only way you could get herpes is if your friend had a cold sore on their mouth at the time you shared the cigarette, even then your chances of getting it that way are very slim because the herpes virus doesn't live for long periods of time out side of the body.There are the tranmittion of Genital herpes(HSV-2)
Genital herpes is most often transmitted through sexual activity, and people with multiple sexual partners are at high risk. HSV, however, can also enter through the anus, skin, and other areas.
And you'd better to avoid sharing toothbrushes or eating utensils with an infected person althought it have few chance to pass it.Let's imagine some herpes DNA was left on the cigarette and survived a very short while in your friend's saliva and that that saliva that was deposited in your friend cigarette bud. Would you then immediately take it and rub it somewhere around or in your genital area? If not, you cannot get genital herpes that way (which you probably would not any way).
You might get oral herpes from sharing glasses... if your friend has oral herpes. If he/she has genital herpes you cannot get oral herpes from her/him except if you practice oral sex with him or her
