Should I be taking Valtrex for oral herpes/HSV1?
it works well for cold sores.Cold sores are rarely passed to the mouth from having oral sex or intercourse any ways, they are more likely to be passed by being innocently kissed on or around the mouth by some one that has cold sores.
Unless your break outs are sever then you don't really have to take valtrex, just use some over the counter cold sore creams to help heal the sores. Just don't kiss on the mouth or give oral sex when you have any signs of a cold sore. You may want to be honest with your partners about the cold sores but they are not a big deal to most people, they are very common to have so there is a good chance in the future that you could meet some one that has cold sores too.
