My wife found out she may have herpes what should I do?
I'm not sure if herpes can lay dormant for years or not, but... IF you truly trust her, then there's no reason to end your marriage because she wasn't cheating. On the other hand, if herpes cannot lay dormant for years than she has been cheating and therefore you should see a counsellor and decide what to do. For your sex life, make sure you use protection while you are just having sex for fun... make sure you never have sex when she thinks she's getting an outbreak and all that fun stuff. She should be on a medication so that she has less breakouts. Concerning your future children, there are two different types of herpes. Type I and Type II. Type I is that brought on by sexual encounters and the one which is the blistering "down-there". Type II is that given to your offspring if they receive any herpes. It is that which causes cold sores around the mouth. It is still safe to get her pregnant, just make sure you don't get herpes as well.Yes herpes can lay dormant and will only flare up every so often. They are just like cold sores. I wouldn't worry that she was cheating as it definitely could be from a long time ago. It is safe to get her pregnant as long as she's getting treatment for it and no your baby will not contract the herpes.Yes hepres can lay dormant for many years especially if she is on valtrex or acyclovir (medication to suppress outbreaks caused by the herpes virus). I know people who have had herpes lay dormant for over 10 years so Im sure your wife is not cheating on you. If you really love your wife then your sex life shouldn't change. Just make sure she starts taking valtrex (it greatly reduces the risk of her spreading it to you..im not sure of the statistic) but my boyfriend and i have been having sex for over a year without using a condom and he still does not have genital herpes. So getting pregnant shouldn't be an issue if your willing to take that risk. I do know that herpes can be fatal to newborn infants although it is estimated that only 1 to 4 infants in 1000 will become infected. The odds that an infant will contract herpes from its mother is greatly lessened if a Cesarean Section is performed on the mother. But, i know the doctor will only perform a C section if your wife is currently having signs of getting or does have an outbreak during the time of birth. Good luck and dont let this change your life.. support your wife herpes is a diffucult painful thing to expierence and go through by yourself.
