I hope you feel better soon. I actually did not have any meds for my first outbreak and tried finding things to help. One is a supplement called Lysine that is also used as a suppressant and you can pick that up in most vitamin aisle. I have also heard that a hairdryer or vinegar water helps... but i think that is kinda like an ice cube on a burn. What i have found that works the best is some of the over the counter meds for cold sores. There are some chap sticks that have meds in it that will help. I like Campho-Phenique. one of its main ingredients is camphor, a plant oil that helps with itching. It can kinda tinglelysting for a few seconds but its benefits far out way the discomfort. I have actually noticed it to shorten outbreaks and stop them from starting. this can also be found in the health care aisle. Also pay attention to other things that can set off an outbreak like your period or sunlight (so a tanning bed isn't a good idea) Feel better.i was in your situation. i take lysine, goldenseal root and enchinacea and vitamine c supplements. also i took baking soda baths once a day during an outbreak and when i got out i used a hiar dryer in cool to dry off the area then use a cotton ball to dab on corn starch on the sore to help keep them dry. use soap that doesnt have a fragrance. regualar dial bar soap is best. and so your best to keep the area clean as much as possible.
