Herpes simplex virus type 1?
Herpes simplex virus type 1?
Not much risk at all - for a lot of reasons.
First, he already has this particular virus in his body. And if he's had it for more than a few months, he has antibodies that will do a pretty good job of protecting him from catching it elsewhere on his body.
Second, the risk of transmission of herpes when no symptoms are present is surprisingly low. Even if you had HSV2 genitally, and he didn't, as long as you don't have sex during outbreaks (or when ANY symptoms are present) the risk of transmission is about 6% PER YEAR.
Finally, because you have HSV1 genitally, and HSV1 "prefers" the mouth, you are not going to be as contagious as often as people who have HSV2 genitally. In fact, you may not have very many outbreaks - or very many instances of asymptomatic shedding (when you are infectious without symptoms.)
I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but you almost certainly don't need to worry about giving him herpes this way - particularly if you avoid sex during outbreaks.
