yes you can and this is if you can if you suffer in the oral area. but this is usally in the week before any sores appear you would get a warning sign of this, ictching or a tingaling feeling it is best to refrain from kissing anyone then and never while a cold sore is present and not until it has completely healed. The most common time to spread it without symptoms in in the first year of infection.You can spread it in between out breaks, but it's less likely to be spread when you have no signs or symptoms of it. Herpes is usually more contagious while you have any signs of an out break. You can only spread HSV1 on the mouth by kissing, HSV2 is usually spread by having oral sex or sexual intercourse with a partner that has herpes. HSV2 is rarely passed from the genitals to the mouth.
