No, you have to take the antiviral medication, like Valtrex. There is nothing over-the-counter for this.you might try vitamin C + l-lysine. I don't have genital herpes, but I do get canker sores (a form of herpes) and these two items shorten the duration of an attack.Lysine supplements are suppose to work. This girl I know says no outbreaks in 5 years since taking lysine. They have it in drug and health stores and even at the grocery store but you have to take it everyday. I think you take more for actual outbreak. Should consult physician about proper dosing.
