when being tested for herpes, is the test always accurate the first time?

Understand that very few tests are 100% accurate all the time.

However, also understand that herpes 2 is not contagious unless the virus is active within the carrier's body. If he was not in the process of an outbreak, then the odds of you getting this particular disorder are very low.

If you were infected, symptoms may never show up, or may occur years later. I'd suggest waiting a few months and getting re-tested for your own peace of mind.

Also, you need to get a healthier boyfriend. If he didn't have any signs of an out break then there would be a small chance of you getting genital herpes from him. Blood tests for herpes are not 100 percent accurate. Get a second opinion in a couple of months time just to be sure.
