Can a guy test negative for herpes and still have it?
Can a guy test negative for herpes and still have it?
A man can be A-Symptomatic which means they won't show symptoms and even show up negative on a std test. I've heard from many people that this has happened before... Speak with your physician.first of all i'm sorry for your situation. did he say he tested negative or did you see his test results yourself? and when was he tested? was it a blood test or a skin test? his status would depends on the test he took. igg & western blot are blood tests and the most reliable tests for herpes. older tests were unreliable and false negatives as well as false positives were aplenty.
if the ex-wife had it & you have it the common denominator is him. ideal scenario (if there is one in this case) is he could be asymptomatic for herpes too and probably thought that between his negative test and never having symptoms he believed he didn't have it. if he tests again & using the tests i suggested above is negative you probably did have it before him but i think that's highly unlikely. to be with two hsv-2 women and not get it from either one would be a miracle.
since herpes can lay dormant for years a third scenario is that you were asymptomatic for years & is just now having an outbreak. i've been where you are with wondering but essentially you can rack your brain and never really know where you got it.I am so sorry to hear about you i wish i could answer but im kinda in the same position be strong.
