It is common for people with herpes to be scared. Being scared of giving it to someone else, being scared they will never have sex or a relationship or get married or have children. These are natural fears, but there is good news here.

I have had herpes for 15 years, and I help others with herpes through my websites. Doing this I have received thousands of emails from people over the years. First let me say that yes you can have sex, and yes you can have a good relationship and yes you can get married and yes you can have children too. You have probably looked on the net and learned that you can lessen the chances of giving herpes to someone if you are not having an outbreak. Here is something to think about. During what is called "flu season", people are sneezing, and with each sneeze they release billions of viruses. Some people near them will get the flu too. But many will not. If you are close to someone sneezing, you will inhale many more viruses than you will if you are say 10 feet away. And you will inhale fewer viruses if they have a small sneeze instead of a big sneeze. If someone sneezes 20 or more feet away you probably don't even think about it. If your immune system is strong, you will probably not get the flu. Remember, many people never get it.

If your immune system is strong and you never get outbreaks, chances are you are not shedding any viruses, or very very few. If your partner has a strong immune system the same as you, he or she is not likely to get the virus, the same way you are not likely to get the flu if you are 20 feet from a sneeze and your immune system is very strong.
